Montenegro poised to play host to 2017 edition of Balkan Kids Festival

Podgorica, Montenegro, February 1, 2017. The 2017 edition of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA) Kids Festival will be taking place in Montenegro. This is an event of the highest importance in order to further grow and promote Volleyball in the Balkan country – especially by involving youngsters, in other words tomorrow’s stars.

The BVA General Assembly held this past January 21 in Sarajevo appointed Montenegro as the host of the 2017 Kids Festival – an event open to young players under 12 years of age. This choice pays tribute to the efforts made by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) for the promotion of the game across the local youngsters. The OSCG are hosting with great success the so-called Jugopetrol EKO Mini Volleyball league, which involves as many as 600 children every weekend.

“The Balkan Kids Festival will be taking place for the fourth time and before it came to Montenegro, it stopped in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Belgrade,” representatives of the OSCG said to the country’s main news agency, MINA. “The festival features young players from all 11 member countries of the Balkan Volleyball Association – apart from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, the Former Y.R. of Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Moldova, and Kosovo will all be sending teams to Podgorica.”

As per the current rules, two teams per country, each one consisting of 12 players (six boys and six girls) are set to participate in the 2017 edition of the Festival. “We expect more than 120 children from across the Balkans to arrive in Montenegro. All of them will be winners in the end, since the BVA will provide each participant with a gold medal,” the OSCG said. “They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the culture and traditions of Montenegro, since this is an integral part of the festival while they will also have the chance to present the culture of the country they come from.”

The 2017 edition of the Balkan Kids Festival is due to take place in May in Podgorica.
