Albanian Federation President takes lots of positive from 2016-2017 season

Tirana, Albania, May 5, 2017. The 2016-2017 club season is about to end and it is time to draw the line for the Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) after a few busy, exciting months. While talking to the media, FSHV President Mr Erlind Pellumbi said that he is very satisfied with what the Albanian Volleyball family has achieved so far.

“This was one of the most beautiful seasons especially in terms of competition, with as many as five teams fighting for the title in the men’s national league. The same applies to the women’s championship, where four teams engaged in an exciting rivalry while battling for the top honours. This has contributed to a lot more suspense and as a result, the fans enjoyed every single point of every game,” said Pellumbi.

The work done by the Albanian Volleyball Federation had an impact on what happened off the court as well – with many innovations introduced for the first time this season. The national TV broadcast live about 40% of the matches on schedule and this certainly helped attract more sponsors. The introduction of the electronic score sheet, live scoring, live stream did all produce satisfactory results. “We have learned a lot from this experience, and we feel encouraged to continue in the same way. We want to collaborate with anyone who wants to help and develop this sport, thus making more steps and moving things forward. The media in general, including also the social and digital networks such as Facebook are very important to us too,” Mr Pellumbi continued.

“We do not want to stop now, because we have more goals to pursue in future. We want to spread a new image of Albanian Volleyball. Now we have a new technical sponsor, who helped us produce uniforms for our referees and the same will happen with the national teams as they participate in a number of events later this summer. The introduction of Data Volley is also a big step forward and we want to extend the use of this tool to all clubs next year, in order to have a database for every single player,” said Pellumbi, who especially wanted to thank CEV for their support. “The CEV are our main ally; they always help us and encourage us, being our best partner. FIVB are also helping us especially delivering a Level I Coaching Course organised in cooperation with the Albanian National Committee. This shows that we are moving in the right direction,” Pellumbi said.
