Bošković, Terzić and Team Serbia scoop NOC awards in Belgrade

Belgrade, Serbia, December 24, 2018. Volleyball sensation Tijana Bošković scooped yet another award as the MVP and gold medal winner from this year’s World Championship in Japan and two-time CEV ‘Female Player of the Year’ received the prize for Serbia’s Sportswoman of the Year 2018. This is not the only award for the Volleyball family, since Zoran Terzić, the head coach of Team Serbia, took the prize for the Best Coach in Serbia across all sports. On top of this, Team Serbia received the award for the Women’s Team of the Year at a special ceremony organised by the Serbian Olympic Committee at the National Assembly in Belgrade.

Bošković, Terzić and Team Serbia are the reigning European and world champions in women’s Volleyball. Bošković is a two-time-in-a-row CEV ‘Female Player of the Year’ while Terzić received the CEV award for the ‘Women’s Team Coach of the Year’ earlier this month in Istanbul.

Team Serbia scooped the NOC award for the Women’s Team of the Year for the ninth time.

The highest authorities in Serbian Volleyball, including VFS President Zoran Gajic, Vice President Djula Mester and Secretary General Ivan Knezevic attended the ceremony held in Belgrade. Mr Gajic and Mr Mester received the award for the ‘Women’s Team of the Year’ from the President of the Serbian Olympic Committee, Mr Bozidar Maljkovic.

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic received the award for the Sportsman of the Year for the seventh time. The Men’s Team of the Year award went to the 3x3-basketball team, who earlier this year won gold at the World Championships held in the Philippines.

Youth awards went to taekwondo practitioner Nadica Bozanic and to the U18 men’s basketball team.

Special recognitions of the Serbian Olympic Committee went to Jovana Prekovic (karate) and her coach Roksanda Atanasov, to Ivana Spanovic (athletics) and her coach Goran Obradovic, and to Marian Vajda, Novak Djokovic’s coach.

Captain Nevena Jovanovic is the winner of the newly established award for the Best Athlete of the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Army.

Jasna Sekaric, a famous shooter and winner of 5 Olympic medals, received the “Olympic Heart - General Djukic” trophy of the Serbian Olympic Committee.
