‘Future Spike’ students meet their idols from Eczacibasi VitrA

Istanbul, Turkey, January 28, 2020. A nice gathering happened Tuesday when more than 200 young students of the ‘Future Spike’ programme visited their role models from Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL.

While putting in hard work to prepare for their intense schedule in the CEV Champions League and Turkish league, the Orange and Whites had a nice boost of motivation, as their young successors were eager to watch their training and to meet them after practice for taking their favourite Volleyball players’ autographs or a selfie with them.

The gathering took place within the eighth edition of the Future Spike’s Development Tournament, which takes place between January 27 and 30.

On the back of Turkish national team’s qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Eczacibasi’s silver medal at the Club World Championship in December, the tournament aims at getting to know some young talents and focusing on the fundamental of “attacking” within the tournament programme. As many as 24 teams take part in the tournament, each one of them bearing names from players of Eczacibasi and the Turkish national team.

About the ‘Future Spike’ programme

In 2016, Eczacibasi Sports Club launched a new programme called “Future Spike” in collaboration with ES Volleyball in order to expand its training programme for young girls. Through this programme, the club aims at introducing thousands of six to 13-year-old girls annually to the culture, spirit and discipline of sports and creating opportunities for the club to discover and train the stars of tomorrow.

Future Spike currently runs 10 campuses around Turkey training 3,000 girls annually, and the target is having 30 campuses in 11 cities training 5,000 girls per year by 2021. According to the club’s plans, the programme will involve 3,000 young girls in the 2019-2020 season in eight different cities to provide them with a quality training opportunity.
