Record-breaking numbers for third edition of Jugopetrol EKO Mini Volleyball league

Podgorica, Montenegro, October 30, 2017. The third edition of the so-called Jugopetrol EKO Mini Volleyball league started this past weekend with Jugopetrol as a sponsor and the support of the Ministry of Sports of Montenegro. This season the competition will feature as many as 44 teams consisting of young Volleyball players aged from nine to 12. Young girls account for most of the participants – with 25 teams registered for the category open to players born in 2005 and 2006 and another 12 competing in the division for kids born in 2007 and 2008. On top of this, seven teams will participate in the tournament open to boys born in 2005 and younger. The competition take place every Sunday at the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović” in Podgorica.

The President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), Cvetko Pajkovic, officially opened the 2017-2018 season along with the President of the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee, Mr Dusan Simonovic and the Marketing Manager of Jugopetrol, Mrs Dunja Zekovic Djonaj. Mrs Snezana Ivanovic, representing the Ministry of Sports, and the head coach of the Iranian men’s national team, Igor Kolakovic, attended the opening ceremony as well together with a large number of children and their parents.

“We hope that this project will last for a long time,” Mr Pajkovic said while wishing a successful start to the children who are participating in the competition and expressing his hope that in future they will become successful Volleyball players, who will one day represent Montenegro on the international stage.

The President of the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee, Mr Dusan Simonovic was visibly happy with the project and participation in the programme. He used the opportunity to congratulate the company Jugopetrol for acknowledging the importance of this event and wished a happy start to the competition to all involved.

The Marketing Manager of Jugopetrol, Dunja Zekovic Djonaj addressed the attendees as well. “On behalf of Jugopetrol AD, I want to greet you, primarily the kids, who are the biggest force and the energy of the future. The energy of the future is our corporate slogan. Since you represent the true energy of the future, we have decided to support this great project this season. Good luck to all of you,” she said.

Zekovic Djonaj, Ivanovic, Simonovic, Kolakovic and Pajkovic distributed over 120 balls to clubs participating in the competition, all provided by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro.

Mrs Dunja Zekovic Djonaj presented balls to the teams of Moraca, Mladost Tivat and Mrkojevici, while Mrs Snezana Ivanovic, a representative of the Ministry of Sports, did the same for the clubs of Albatros, Niksic and Gorstak. Mr Dusko Simonovic, President of the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee, made everyone happy distributing such valuable present to Academy and Bar Volley, while Igor Kolakovic was in charge of Buducnost Capital Plaza and Buducnost Bemax. Finally, Mr Cvetko Pajkovic, President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, took care of the teams of Mediteran and Top Volley.

The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro also distributed to the participating clubs t-shirts for all children. The OSCG, with the sponsorship of Jugopetrol and the support of the Ministry of Sports, will cover all costs relating to the organisation of the competition.
