Serbia poised to host VNL rounds in 2020

Kraljevo, Serbia, November 29, 2019. Mr Fulvio Danilas, Event Manager in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL), and Mr Stewart Veasey, Technical Producer at IMG carried out a three-day inspection of the sports halls in the cities of Kraljevo and Niš where matches are due to take place for the 2020 edition of the elite VNL.

The senior women’s national team of Serbia, the reigning World and two-time European champions, will host the tournament of Pool 8 from May 26 to 28, featuring the national teams of the Netherlands, Thailand and the United States. Serbia’s senior men, who are the reigning European champions, will host the US team, Iran and Germany, from June 5 to 7, over the 3rd weekend of action in Pool 10.

Mr Danilas and Mr Veasey controlled in details the facilities in the respective sports halls, training halls, and the hotels for teams and officials in the cities of Kraljevo, Vrnjačka Banja and Niš.

Mr Ivan Knežević, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Mr Dragutin Ćuk, Technical Director, Mr Milan Vujačić, International Events Coordinator, and the representatives of the Local Organising Committees along with management and technical staff of the sports halls accompanied Mr Danilas and Mr Veasey during the inspection.

The FIVB and IMG representatives will prepare a detailed report about the inspection, and then the FIVB will make the final decision about the host cities and the next steps necessary for the organisation of the 2020 VNL tournaments.
