Serbia start preparations for 2019 VNL home tournaments

Belgrade, Serbia, November 29, 2018. Mr Fulvio Danilas, FIVB Volleyball Nations League Event Manager, and Cristopher Lee Austin, IMG Technical Producer, inspected the sport halls “Aleksandar Nikolic” in Belgrade and “SPC Vojvodina” in Novi Sad during a two-day visit to Serbia. These arenas will be hosting matches of the elite FIVB Volleyball Nations League next year.

Serbia, the reigning women’s world champions, will host a tournament of the first weekend in Pool 4 in Belgrade, where they will be playing the Netherlands, Turkey and Korea. As for the men, who finished fourth at this year’s World Championship, they will host France, Russia and Japan from May 31 to June 2 in the city of Novi Sad.

Danilas and Austin controlled the conditions in the arenas, and on top of this, they visited training halls and hotels for the participating teams and the officials that will be staying in Belgrade and Novi Sad.

During their visit to Serbia, the guests met with Mr Ivan Knezevic, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Mr Dragutin Cuk, Technical Director, Mr Dusan Keser, Competitions Director, and Mr Dragan Cuckovic, representative of the local Organising Committee from Novi Sad, as well as with employees in the respective sports halls.

Representatives of the FIVB and IMG will prepare a detailed report of their visit to Belgrade and Novi Sad and of the conditions for playing VNL matches at the designated venues. After that, the FIVB will inform the Volleyball Federation of Serbia about the following steps in the organisation of the two much anticipated Volleyball Nations League tournaments.
