Serbian Federation host gala to present end-of-the-year awards

Belgrade, Serbia, December 27, 2018. CEV President Aleksandar Boričić was among the many guests attending the annual New Year’s Cocktail hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Serbia (VFS) at Crowne Plaza hotel in Belgrade. The VFS used this event as an opportunity to announce the best players of the year, with Tijana Boskovic and Uros Kovacevic receiving the awards for the Best Female and Male Volleyball Player, respectively.

Many guests, Volleyball players and media representatives attended the event, with VFS President Zoran Gajic delivering the opening address. After that, Bojana Milenkovic, one of the 14 Serbian players crowned World Champions earlier this year in Japan, brought the trophy claimed in Yokohama with a loud applause from the audience accompanying her towards the stage.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić, H.E. Mr Junichi Maruyama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Serbia, as well as the President, Secretary General and Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Serbia, Božidar Maljković, Đorđe Višacki and Žarko Zečević were among the guests attending the event.

The award for the most successful Beach Volleyball teams of 2018 went to Gorana Mrdjan/ Aleksandra Aleksic and to Lazar Kolaric/Stefan Basta for women and men, respectively. Mr Djula Mester, Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented the awards to Serbia’s reigning national champions – winners of the “2018 Banka Postanska stedionica Beach-Volley League.”

Sara Caric and Luka Tadic, who play for Vizura RUMA and Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD, were the recipients of the awards for the Best Young Volleyball Players in Serbia in 2018.

Mr Zoran Terzic, head coach of the senior women’s national team of Serbia, the reigning World and European Champions, the CEV ‘Women’s Team Coach of the Year’ and the Best Coach in Serbia elected by the Serbian Olympic Committee, added yet another award to his personal collection – i.e. the Best Volleyball Coach of 2018. Mr Ivan Knezevic, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented Terzic with the award. Terzic currently works with Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL as well – with whom he competes in the Turkish national league and in the CEV Volleyball Champions League as well.

In the end, Mr Bojan Kekic, President of the Executive Board in “Banka Postanska stedionica” (Postal Savings Bank), officially announced that his company will be the general sponsor of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia for the next four years, i.e. until 2022.
