Slobodan Kovač new head coach of Team Serbia

Belgrade, Serbia, August 19, 2019. Slobodan Kovač, who boasts a truly successful career as a player as well, is the new head coach at the helm of the men’s national team of Serbia. The Volleyball Federation of Serbia and Mr Kovač agreed to cooperate for the upcoming CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men and the European Olympic qualifier scheduled for early January 2020. After that, the two parties will sit down and discuss about the future beyond that.

Slobodan “Boba” Kovač claimed as many as seven medals with the national team of the former Yugoslavia. He secured a historic gold at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, bronze at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, bronze at the 1996 FIVB World Challenge Cup in Tokyo, silver at the 1997 European Championship in Eindhoven, bronze at the 1995 European Championship in Athens, and silver at the 1991 Mediterranean Games held in Athens as well.

Kovač participated four times in the European Championship, thus accounting for 28 EuroVolley appearances in his career. Moreover, he played 16 matches at the Olympic Games.
