Thrilling matches mark day two of U19M Balkan Championship

There was no shortage of excitement on the second day of the U19 Balkan Volleyball Championship in Banja Luka. Two matches went to five sets: Romania edged out North Macedonia, and Bulgaria defeated Greece, both with a score of 3–2. Serbia secured a victory over Montenegro in four sets, while Turkiye beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3:0.

In pool B, Serbia tops the standings with two wins. Their second triumph came against Montenegro with a 3:1 win (22:25, 25:20, 25:23, 25:14). Serbia’s top scorer was Stefan Soko with 25 points, while his teammate Stefan Popić added 18. For Montenegro, Vuk Stanojević led with 19 points, and Luka Lojić contributed 16.

In the same group, Bulgaria earned its first win after a hard-fought battle against Romania, finishing 3:2 (21:25, 25:27, 25:21, 25:8, 15:9). Dejan Marinov led Bulgaria to victory with 28 points, while on the Romanian side, Zarkdis Diamantis scored 17.

In pool A matches, Romania and North Macedonia played a five-set thriller, with Romania coming out on top in the deciding set, 15:12. Todor Costim was the best performer for Romania with 29 points, while Ioan Verciuc added 23. For North Macedonia, Toshe Efremov scored 25 points.

Turkiye is leading pool A. In today’s schedule, they recorded their second win, defeating the host nation, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3:0 (25:21, 25:20, 25:18).
