Tijana Bošković had a superb season for Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, with the Serbian opposite spiker leading the way in the number of points scored in every single game played so far in this season.

Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul had one of their best seasons in history in the CEV Champions League | Women, making the SuperFinals for the first time since the current format has been introduced and having a chance to clinch the trophy for the first time since they won it in the 2014/15 season.

As it is widely known, success is a team effort, but some players do shine during crucial matches and this is what opposite spiker Tijana Bošković did for the Turkish powerhouse this season, confirming her excellent form over the last few seasons, when she was named the CEV Female Volleyball Player of the Year for three years in a row in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Bošković, now the captain of Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, has been in superb form throughout this campaign for the Turkish side, after being the best scorer in last season’s Women’s CEV Cup, when Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul won the trophy, the second won in major European competitions by the player with the current side, which she has been playing for since 2015.

But right now, Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul had a superb season in the European premium competition, winning nine matches out of the 10 they played, dropping only eight sets on their way to the SuperFinals in Turin and in the business end of the competition, no player has been more crucial than Bošković.

In both quarter-final matches against Developres Rzeszow, Boskovic was the best scorer of the game, with 28 and 30 points respectively. She took that form over into the semi-finals against Italian side Igor Gorgonzola Novara, where she doubled down on what she did in the quarter-finals, becoming the best scorer in both of those matches, with 28 points in the first leg and 11 in the second leg.

But Bošković has been impressive throughout the whole season, being the best scorer in all of Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul’s matches, including the ones in the Pool Phase, an excellent achievement, which underlines the importance of the team’s captain for the Turkish side, a true leader on and off the court, trying to deliver the best performances for a side she has spent almost all her senior career in.

Despite playing only six matches and 24 sets throughout the season in the CEV Champions League | Women, the 26-year-old Serbian opposite spiker scored 153 points, sitting sixth in the best scorer top, but boasting the largest points tally in a per set average, 6.38.

With medals in all the major international competitions she played in, Bošković, a nominee for the All-Star team this season, has surprisingly never played for the trophy in the CEV Champions League | Women, and now her first chance arrives, with the possibility of a big win over domestic rivals VakifBank Istanbul in the SuperFinal in Turin only adding to Bošković’s legacy in volleyball.

Bošković’s challenge will surely be helped by fellow Serbian setter Maja Ognjenović, who is now in the second year of her third stint at Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, the second alongside the current captain, with the two players delivering excellent games throughout the whole season.
