Record-breaking EKO mini volleyball league concluded

The record-breaking seventh edition of the EKO mini volleyball league run by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) has concluded after 12 weekends and as many as 419 matches, thereby involving around 900 children through 73 teams from 18 volleyball clubs. The project, organised by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro with the sponsorship of Jugopetrol AD, the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the CEV, the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee, and the Capital City of Podgorica, for the youngest volleyball players aged 9 to 13 from all over Montenegro did again go beyond all expectations and break all previous participation records.

At the end of the 14 matches scheduled for the final weekend at the Verde Complex sports hall, medals were awarded to the participants of the seventh season. The President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Cvetko Pajković, presented medals to the teams of Ivangrad, Tempo, and Budućnost Volley.

The Secretary General of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Igor Vušurović, a 2000 Olympic champion with Yugoslavia, awarded members of the teams Lovćen and Libero from Cetinje, as well as Mornar.

The receiver of the senior national team, Danijela Džaković, presented medals to the youngsters from Herceg Novi, Mrkojevići, Net, and Morača.

The middle blocker of the Montenegrin national team, Teodora Rakočević, awarded medals to the teams of Top Volley, Academy, Barbane, and Albatros.

The rookie of the Montenegrin women’s national team, Darja Popović, herself a former participant of the EKO mini volleyball league, distributed medals to the members of Mediteran, Nikšić, Gorštak, and Gimnazijalac.

After the tournament and the medal ceremony, the EKO mini volleyball league participants supported the Montenegrin senior national team in the second match of their CEV European Silver League home tournament against Georgia. Montenegro beat Georgia 3-1 after previously recording a 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands.
