On Monday morning, CEV President Roko Sikirić joined FIVB President Fabio Azevedo as the highest authorities in global and European Volleyball had the honour of meeting with the President of the Republic of Serbia, HE Mr Aleksandar Vučić. The two Volleyball leaders have travelled to Serbia to attend the celebrations for the 100th anniversary since the introduction of Volleyball in the Balkan country scheduled for later in the evening at the Sava Centre in Belgrade.

Surrounded by the newly elected FIVB President Fabio Azevedo and the leadership of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, the CEV President discussed with Mr Vučić a variety of projects where the European Volleyball Confederation and their Serbian colleagues can join forces to pursue the further growth and progress of the sport at all levels. The potential organisation of the CEV EuroVolley 2028 Men in Serbia was among the items the conversation revolved around – with the CEV President expressing his wish to support and work with the Volleyball Federation of Serbia to raise the profile of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball in the country, while delivering major international events as well as age-group competitions – where the stars of tomorrow are born – to inspire even more youngsters and grow the next generation of elite players.

The FIVB and CEV Presidents delivered a strong message of unity and cohesion from the Volleyball family – as they work hand in hand to elevate the sport and its profile along with all other members of the Global Volleyball Movement.

Such unity and cohesion were further reinforced by the presence of other key stakeholders, including the President and Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Djula Mešter and Ivan Knežević, who is a CEV First Vice-President as well, and VFS Senior Vice-President Jelena Nikolić, plus Vice-Presidents Vesna Djurišić and Petar Bogdanović. Serbia’s Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić attended the meeting as well, together with the President of the Serbian Olympic Committee, Božidar Maljković, Mr Ivica Kojić, Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr Marko Kešelj, State Secretary of the Ministry of Sports.
