The tournament of the 1st round of the Zonal Qualifications for the U18 European Volleyball Championship began in Podgorica with straight-set victories by Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania.
Serbia opened the program with a win over Greece, which put up serious resistance only in the third set.
In the second match of the day, host nation Montenegro caused a major upset by defeating the favored Turkish team in straight sets, taking a significant step toward qualification for the next round.
In the final match of the opening day, Romania left no room for surprises, comfortably defeating Kosovo without dropping a set.
