Record-Breaking Participation at Mini Volleyball Festival in Istanbul

The Mini Volleyball Festival, organized by the Istanbul Volleyball Provincial Association, took place on June 1-2, 2024.

The young athletes, of all ages, demonstrated their skill and passion for the sport by playing friendly matches and showcasing their talent. Their families were also there to cheer them on and add to the festive spirit of the event. The festival not only provided a platform for these young players to compete but also emphasised the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the joy of playing volleyball.

The event highlighted the growing popularity of volleyball among young people in Istanbul and the dedication of the Istanbul Volleyball Provincial Association to promoting the sport at the grassroots level.

Overall, the Mini Volleyball Festival was a resounding success, leaving lasting memories for the young athletes and their families, and strengthening the community spirit through the love of volleyball.

Record-breaking EKO mini volleyball league concluded

The record-breaking seventh edition of the EKO mini volleyball league run by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) has concluded after 12 weekends and as many as 419 matches, thereby involving around 900 children through 73 teams from 18 volleyball clubs. The project, organised by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro with the sponsorship of Jugopetrol AD, the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the CEV, the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee, and the Capital City of Podgorica, for the youngest volleyball players aged 9 to 13 from all over Montenegro did again go beyond all expectations and break all previous participation records.

At the end of the 14 matches scheduled for the final weekend at the Verde Complex sports hall, medals were awarded to the participants of the seventh season. The President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Cvetko Pajković, presented medals to the teams of Ivangrad, Tempo, and Budućnost Volley.

The Secretary General of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Igor Vušurović, a 2000 Olympic champion with Yugoslavia, awarded members of the teams Lovćen and Libero from Cetinje, as well as Mornar.

The receiver of the senior national team, Danijela Džaković, presented medals to the youngsters from Herceg Novi, Mrkojevići, Net, and Morača.

The middle blocker of the Montenegrin national team, Teodora Rakočević, awarded medals to the teams of Top Volley, Academy, Barbane, and Albatros.

The rookie of the Montenegrin women’s national team, Darja Popović, herself a former participant of the EKO mini volleyball league, distributed medals to the members of Mediteran, Nikšić, Gorštak, and Gimnazijalac.

After the tournament and the medal ceremony, the EKO mini volleyball league participants supported the Montenegrin senior national team in the second match of their CEV European Silver League home tournament against Georgia. Montenegro beat Georgia 3-1 after previously recording a 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands.

Turkish team winner of senior Balkan Beach Volleyball Championship

Senior Balkan Beach Championship 2024 for men and women at Ören Beach in Balikesir, Türkiye has ended.

The team from Turkiye Özdemi/Kuru and the team from Netherlands Driessen/de Jong (Zonal Association) are winners of the Senior Men & Women Beach Volleyball Balkan Championship 2024.

In the men’s final, Turkish team Özdemi/Kuru beat Greek duo Kanellos/Ioannidis, with a score of 2:0 and claimed the Balkan Championship.

The third place in the men’s category was secured by the Greek players Sideris/Antiol Kola, who defeated the Romanian pair Grigore/Popa with a score of 2:0.

In the women’s category, the champion was Driessen/de Jong duo from the Netherlands, who defeated Triantafyllidi/Manavi duo from Greece 2:0. The third place went to Finland’s Nirhamo/Viitala duo, who defeated Romania’s Stanciu/Ordean duo 2:0.

At the ceremony held after the final matches, medals and trophies were presented by the members of the TVF Executive Board Metin Mengüç, the mayor of Burhaniye Ali Kemal Deveciler, the deputy mayor of Burhaniye Oktay Erbalaban, the director of the Department of Youth and Sports in Burhaniye Aslan Alparslan, the director of the Sports Department in the Municipality of Balikesir Uğur Baysal, the president of the Sports Club Balikesir Büyükşehir Burç Özoğuz, and the technical delegate of the BVA Tosho Stoyanov.

Senior Balkan Beach Championship 2024 for men and women will be played from the 9th until the 12th of May at Ören Beach in Balikesir, Türkiye.

In the women’s competition will play teams Triantafyllidi/Manavi from Greece, Alexoglou/Paschalaki from Greece, Nezir/Tecimer from Türkiye, Stanciu/Ordean from Romania, Ceylin/Simdin from Türkiye, Driessen/De Jong from The Netherlands (Zonal Association), Miu/Baciu from Romania, Merce/Sencel from Türkiye, Nirhamo/Viitala from Finland (Zonal Association), Idil/Sahin from Türkiye, Demirkiran/Nehir from Türkiye and Akyuz/Apaydin from Türkiye.

In the men’s competition will play teams Mermer/Sacit from Türkiye, Kanellos/Ioannidis from Greece, Yusuf/Batuhan from Türkiye, Dobcis/Korsakov from Moldova, Plamdeala/Voleanin from Moldova, Ahmet Can/Tuna from Türkiye, Bratosin/Hupoiu from Romania, Sideris/Antiol Kola from Greece, Tsigaridas/Kafouros from Greece, Grigore/Popa from Romania, Burak/Ege Can from Türkiye, Makaric/Muskinja from Serbia., Erol/Baris from Türkiye and Kesgin/Turkel from Türkiye.
