The CEV Board of Administration accepted earlier this week the application of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) to host the pool phase of the CEV EuroVolley 2028 Men. This decision represents a historic moment for Montenegrin Volleyball, as well as for Montenegrin sport as a whole.
The CEV EuroVolley is undoubtedly one of the largest and most significant sporting events ever organised in Montenegro. It is an honour, but also a real responsibility for the OSCG and their partners to deliver a top-class sporting spectacle for the Balkan country, the sport, and the fans – one worthy of the European and global Volleyball stage.
“This event will literally break new ground for our sport in Montenegro, as the first championship of this magnitude and calibre to take place in their country. We very much hope it will help the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro raise the profile of Volleyball even further and will inspire many local youngsters to follow in the footsteps of the local heroes who will enjoy the privilege of contesting a European Championship on home soil.”
Roko Sikirić
CEV President
As a result of this partnership, in 2028 Team Montenegro will be making their fourth EuroVolley appearance in history

The EuroVolley matches will be contested at the SC Moraca in the country’s capital, Podgorica. It carries special symbolism that the European Championship will take place in 2028, the year planned for Montenegro’s accession to the European Union. Through the delivery of the CEV EuroVolley 2028, the organisers want to send a clear message that Montenegro is ready to be part of the European sporting and social family at the highest level. The decision made by the CEV Board of Administration is also an acknowledgment of the good work done by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro at all levels and testament to the CEV’s trust in the OSCG ability to successfully organise such a demanding and prestigious competition.
The hosting of the CEV EuroVolley 2028 Men pool phase represents a major opportunity for the further development and even greater popularisation of Volleyball in the Balkan country.
“We are confident that this event will inspire new generations of young athletes, further strengthen our Volleyball community, and leave a long-term positive impact on the development of sport in our country.”
Nikola Kažić
President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro
Such an endeavour is only possible with the help provided by the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, as well as the Capital City of Podgorica, whose support was of exceptional importance throughout the entire application process. The CEV EuroVolley 2028 is due to take place shortly after the conclusion of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA, and the exact dates will be determined at a later stage. The complete list of the four host countries is expected to be finalised and announced in due course.
