The U19 Balkan Championship for women’s volleyball began today in Tirana, with four matches played, in which the national teams of Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkiye, and Albania emerged victorious.
The tournament opened with a match between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. In this match, the Bulgarian team won convincingly in straight sets (25:9, 29:27, 25:15). Kalina Veneva and Darina Naneva stood out with 15 points each, while Nicol Okoro and Vyara Parapunova each contributed 12 points.
In the following match, Serbia defeated Romania 3:1 in four sets (24:26, 25:16, 25:17, 25:13). Serbia’s win was led by Ana Miović with 18 points, along with Marija Babalj and Elena Martić, who scored 14 points each.
Turkiye also recorded a win on the opening day, easily defeating Kosovo in straight sets (25:15, 25:9, 25:16). In the Turkish team, Aylin Uysalca reached double digits in scoring, while for Kosovo, Enekla Voci registered five points.
The last match of the day was the longest one, as Albania defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina after five sets 3:2 (25:19, 20:25, 30:28, 23:25, 15:11). In the winning team, the best was Klea Tarja with 18 points, and Sonia Sulejmani won 13. The best player on the match was Marija Fundup with 27 points, followed by Ines Ivković with 21.
