Montenegro qualified for Final Four of the Silver #EuroLeagueW

by Admin 17/06/2023
written by Admin

Women’s national team of Montenegro defeated the Faroe Islands 3:0 (25:23, 25:17, 25:8) and from the first place in group B they will go to Final Four tournament in Graz. With an excellent performance in Sports center “Igalo”, Montenegrin volleyball players concluded a great performance in the group stage of the CEV Silver League.

“I would like to congratulate the girls on their victory and first place in the Silver League pool phase. A really good result, five wins and one loss. That one defeat in Portugal, where we were not “run over”, and there we resisted, and there we could very easily get at least one point. I hope that we will play our best game in the semi-finals of the CEV Silver League, that’s the only wish I have at this moment. I congratulate the girls once again on the complete performance during all six rounds”, Montenegro head coach Milorad Krunic was very happy.

After the great win over Portugal on Wednesday, 3:0 (25:21, 25:23, 25:22), the goal of head coach Krunić was to rest the holders of the game, so after a good opening, there was a slight uncertainty in the game. The Faroe Islands even led on several occasions, but in the key moments of the set, the experience of Danijela Dzakovic decided and our team took the lead with 25:23.

In the second set, the game was significantly safer, which was influenced by Tijana Tvrdisic’s excellent services and six tied points. Faroe Islands managed to offer as much resistance as possible, not enough to avoid a convincing 25:18.

The last part of the game started in the same way as the first, after the serve was taken away, six tied serves by Tvrdisic and 7:1 at the beginning, the advantage went to double digits for the first time, and the maximum was at the end of the set, +17, 25:8.

As many as three players in double figures in our team – Danijela Dzakovic, Saska Djurovic and Katarina Budrak each won 10 points, Dijana Vukovic and Teodora Rakocevic recorded eight each. On the other side, Sofia Puskus scored 13 points.

Seventeen-year-old Lara Jovovic and Viktoria Djukic made their debuts in the Montenegrin national team.

Film to document bumpy road and unprecedented success of Team MKD ahead of historic EuroVolley on home soil

by Press 09/06/2023
written by Press

Four years ago, it was the first participation, the first point, the first set, the first ranking point and eventually a first, historic victory at CEV EuroVolley. Ever since, Macedonian Volleyball has pushed the limits of their results on the court, and now it has an even more demanding task, which is to be a successful co-organiser of the upcoming continental championship in August and September. The honour is great, as well as the responsibility, because Skopje has never hosted a men’s senior event of this level. And that is a chance and an obligation at the same time for all actors and stakeholders to contribute to making the European Championship a memorable experience for all involved.

The long-time media partner of the Volleyball Federation, Macedonian Radio and Television (MRT) has decided to produce a documentary film about the successes that the national team has achieved in the past few years. Given the circumstances, the impression is undivided that the national team led by the charismatic and unique captain Nikola Gjorgiev, achieved enormous success by playing in two European Championships in a row. Now it will be three out of three since 2019 which is an amazing thing for the Macedonian volleyball family.

“Macedonian volleyball players did not have an easy road, but they never gave up on their dreams. They were persistent, they believed in themselves, they worked hard and we at Macedonian Radio and Television rejoice in their joy. We want to draw attention to their work, to create a permanent record of what they lived in the past few years, and thus to promote CEV EuroVolley 2023 in our own way.”
Toni Stojanovski
MRT sports commentator and screenwriter of the documentary

Team captain Nikola Gjorgiev being interviewed by the MRT crew

“We broadcast the home matches of the Macedonian team, and it will be the same at CEV EuroVolley 2023. We are constantly with the players, we also broadcast the previous two European Championships, so we have extensive archive material to create a good product. I hope that everyone will like it and that it will cause more motivation for the players to train and play, and for the spectators a desire to fill the Boris Trajkovski arena and support the Macedonian national team,” said the director, Toni Ristovski.

Working on the promotion of CEV EuroVolley 2023, the Macedonian volleyball family will also make a promotional video as an invitation for the spectators to come to Skopje, and Macedonian volleyball will get its own anthem, which should be a hallmark not only of this European Championship, but in general at every match in each category in which the Macedonian national team plays.

Aleksandar Ljaftov talking to the MRT crew for the production of the documentary due to promote this year’s EuroVolley

This means that the warm-up for CEV EuroVolley 2023 has already started, the two victories in the three games so far in the European Golden League have given even more energy for the team to complete their part of the job. By emphasising that this time the work is pure pleasure.
