City of Skopje joins CEV EuroVolley promotion with citizens riding on branded buses

by Admin 11/07/2023
written by Admin

After the matches of the CEV European Golden League contested in the Macedonian capital these past few weeks, the summer period coincides with rather calm weather before the storm comes. While the players are charging their batteries before the start of the preparations for the CEV EuroVolley 2023, the citizens of Skopje are riding on buses branded in the colours of the upcoming continental championship. The main actors are the increasingly popular members of the Macedonian national volleyball team.

Top sport, tourism, general promotion… CEV EuroVolley 2023 offers many opportunities, so the Macedonian volleyball family is looking for more members, all motivated to provide pleasant days in August and September at the local Boris Trajkovski arena, but also everywhere in Skopje for visitors likely to travel from Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Czechia, and Montenegro.

The City of Skopje has joined the Memorandum of Cooperation established between the Volleyball Federation and the Agency for the Support and Promotion of Tourism. This means that the cooperation will be expanded to include several promotional activities, and the citizens of Skopje who use public transport are already riding on buses branded in the colours of European Volleyball, as well as displaying the players of the Macedonian national team.

The atmosphere is heating up, more and more people from different generations are talking about Volleyball, the Macedonian national team expects great support from the stands to achieve unprecedented success in their third European Championship participation in a row, and Skopje as a city of solidarity wants all the volleyball guests to feel at home and says: WELCOME! Witamy! Welkom! Velkommen! Vítejte! Добродошли!

The U17 Women’s European Championship gets Going in Serbia and Hungary

by Admin 11/07/2023
written by Admin

Instead of twelve, sixteen teams will compete in the CEV U17 Women European Championship, hosted by Vrnjacka Banja (Serbia) and Békéscsaba (Hungary). The group stages will be held between July 11-19 at both locations, while the final stage will take place in Serbia.

For the more fortunate nations, one qualifying round was enough to secure their participation in this year’s continental tournament, but volleyball players from most nations also played in the second round.

Let’s see how the field of 16 teams was formed:

As hosts, Serbia and Hungary did not play qualifiers.

In the 1st round – in December of last year and in January of this year – the winner of the qualification of the four zonal associations tournament (EEVZA, WEVZA, MEVZA, BVA) has already won their participation in the European Championship: Turkey and Poland won the mini-tournament by losing a set, Croatia is undefeated, while the reigning European champion Italy made it to the European Championship with one loss.

In the 2nd round, twenty countries fought for the ten places to qualify, the most convincing performance was provided by Belgium, which won Group E without losing a set. Georgia proved to be slightly better against Israel, as both scored four points, the Georgian team can win in Serbia in any case.

The 10 nations that will qualify for the European Championship are: Bulgaria and Germany (Group A), the Netherlands and France (Group B), Slovenia and Greece (Group C), Romania and Georgia (Group D), and Belgium and Estonia (Group E).
