The BVA Cup 2025 for men officially started tonight in Kakanj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with successful starts for Steaua București from Romania and OFI Crete from Greece.
The opening match offered plenty of excitement, as Steaua defeated SC Ankara after four sets, winning 3:1 (20:25, 25:20, 25:23, 25:23). Ionut Balean Rares led the Romanian side with 25 points, followed by Alexandru Rata with 16 and Seppe Baetens with 10. For SC Ankara, Jesus Jaime Herrera was the standout performer, scoring 27 points, the highest individual of the match.
In the second game of the evening, hosts OK Kakanj fell to OFI Crete, who claimed a convincing victory 3:0 (25:21, 25:18, 25:14).
On the second day of competition, the battle for a place in the CEV Challenge Cup 2026 continues with OFI Crete facing Steaua București (17:30h), followed by the match between SC Ankara and OK Kakanj (20h)
