VakifBank maintained their title in Turkish Cup after a sensational victory over Fenerbahce.

The final four round of the Turkish Cup took place this weekend: At the semifinals, VakifBank first beat Aydin Buyuksehir Belediyespor in straight sets, and Fenerbahce secured their spot in the final clash by overpowering THY Istanbul after a challenging five-set battle.

In the final battle of this year’s domestic cup, these two elite squads once again faced off. The SuperFinalist and reigning #CLVolleyW champion VakifBank started the match well and took the first set without difficulties. The last two sets, however, were quite competitive. On the other hand, Italian expert Giovanni Guidetti’s team managed to put the ball to the floor and win the match and title by 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 29-27).

Paola Egonu became the top scorer of the match with 25 points and was honored as the MVP. The captain of the winning side, Gabi Guimaraes scored 15, and Turkish middle blocker Kubra Akman stood out with four block points. Turkish opposite Melissa Teresa Vargas (17) and young Arina Fedorovtseva (10) were the players in Fenerbahce who scored in double digits.

This year’s SuperFinalist VakifBank took their first trophy of this season by overpowering Fenerbahce in the national cup’s final; now, they entirely focus on counting more.
