Action-packed year to coincide with CEV’s golden jubilee

by Admin 28/02/2023
written by Admin

The members of the CEV Board of Administration convened on Saturday in Mannheim for the first plenary meeting of a truly special year for the European Volleyball family – as it coincides with the golden jubilee / 50th anniversary since the CEV was officially established in 1973.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić and his colleagues agreed on an extensive programme, which will allow European Volleyball to mark and celebrate appropriately such an occasion together with all relevant stakeholders and partners throughout the months ahead.

In what remain extremely challenging circumstances for our society at large, following also the devastating quakes that hit Türkiye and neighbouring Syria earlier this month – with members of the CEV BoA paying their respect to the many victims, the European Volleyball family still remains driven by positive energy, optimism, a clear vision and the ability to adjust along the way in order to enable and support a further growth of the game at all levels.

The ‘golden year’ of European Volleyball is filled with many opportunities to enjoy the sport and share event experiences of the finest level, starting with the CEV Champions League Volley Super Finals – whose host will be announced in due course – and the eagerly anticipated CEV EuroVolley 2023 for men and women across as many as seven host countries.

Beach Volleyball fans already look forward to a record-breaking EuroBeachVolley on the iconic Danube Island in Vienna as well as to the second edition of the Nations Cup – which, combined with next year’s edition, will count as an Olympic qualifying event for Paris 2024. The second edition of the electrifying Queen & King of the Court European Finals – with its innovative and highly entertaining format – and the inaugural CEV Beach Volley European Cup – the first such competition involving Beach Volleyball clubs – will account for further highlights in this anniversary year. Moreover, to grow the game even further, and keeping a long-term perspective in mind, the CEV will introduce a first-ever Snow Volleyball age-group continental championship too.

Overall, the discussions revolved around the future of European Volleyball, and this so special year will focus – among other things – on further innovation and digitisation through the implementation of a centralised data platform which shall lay the groundwork for further engagement with fans from across Europe and beyond and to support the promotion of the many major CEV events scheduled for 2023 and for the years ahead.

Volleyball for Türkiye

by Press 15/02/2023
written by Press

As we get ready for the final day of the men’s CEV Champions League Volley playoff and the women’s pool phase, we try and bring the European volleyball community and volleyball fans worldwide together in support of Türkiye, following the unimaginable human crisis that the country is going through as a result of last week’s earthquakes.

To this extent, all the matches taking place today will be made available free of charge on CEV’s official YouTube channel – European Volleyball. Every stream will have activated the “Donate” function that fans can use to contribute directly no fees attached, to the Save the Children International Foundation and their current campaign for assistance in Türkiye.

Volleyball Federation Montenegro extends general sponsorship with Elektroprivreda Crne Gore

by Press 09/02/2023
written by Press

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) and Volleyball Federation Montenegro (OSCG) will continue very successful cooperation in 2023 – the largest state company and main volleyball institution in Montenegro have extended the contract of general sponsorship for another year.

The executive Director of the Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (National company for electric power energy) Nikola Rovčanin and the president of the Volleyball Federation Montenegro Cvetko Pajković signed a sponsorship agreement.

The President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro thanked EPCG for the extension of the contract and pointed out that volleyball clubs in Montenegro will benefit the most from this sponsorship.

“OSCG expresses its satisfaction and gratitude that we have the opportunity to sign the general sponsorship agreement with EPCG today, which means the continuation of cooperation with one of the largest companies in our country, a company that leads the way in terms of social responsibility.

I believe that this extension of cooperation is a consequence of our results and activities, which will be particularly meaningful to the association in the year in which we expect the third consecutive appearance at EuroVolley 2023 for men, the organization of the U17 EuroVolley for men, as well as the participation of senior women in European Silver League, and Balkan Championships for six under age national teams.

However, the clubs will benefit the most from this sponsorship. The fees for officials will also be paid in the mind-season to all clubs of the EPCG Super League, as well as the EPCG of the First League, as it was the case last season and this season,” said Cvetko Pajković, the president of OSCG.

The executive director of EPCG Nikola Rovčanin congratulated OSCG on the great successes in the previous period and pointed out that EPCG will be a support and a helping hand to the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, but also to other sports teams.

Rovčanin also pointed out that Volleyball Federation is example how somebody should respect and realize sponsorship agreement.

“It is a great honor and pleasure for me to sign a sponsorship contract with Volleyball Federation Montenegro on behalf of the largest state company, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore. I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your great successes in the previous period, in the hope that you will continue to achieve good results in the time ahead and it that way make the state, citizens and all of us who are sponsors and who support your sports project happy.

In this way, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore shows its social responsibility, it has shown it before, and it will show it in the future. We will always be a support and a helping hand, both to other sports teams, and now to the Volleyball Federation Montenegro.

We have no doubt that you will use these funds in the best possible way, to improve your sports infrastructure, and I see that there is no shortage of sportsmanship. I wish you and I hope that this very successful cooperation will continue in the coming years,” said Nikola Rovčanin, the executive director of EPCG.

Thanks to the signed sponsorship, Volleyball Federation Montenegro will continue to help volleyball clubs in Montenegro by covering the costs of officials in the EPCG Super league, as well as in the EPCG First League in the next competition season.

The cooperation between OSCG and EPCG continues in the year when the volleyball players play for the third consecutive time at the EuroVolley, while the women national team will perform in the CEV Silver League. This year, the Volleyball Federation Montenegro will host the U17 European Championship 2023 for men, where 16 of Europe’s best national teams will perform, while our other under age selections are expected to perform at the Balkan Championships.

In addition to all that, domestic competitions, which are ongoing, are entering the final stage, and bearing in mind the numerous reinforcements during the transfer window, we are expecting an interesting fight for the trophies in the EPCG Super leagues…
