With an opening ceremony and the first day of competition, the ninth season of the Mini Volleyball league officially started at the sports hall of the Slobodan Škerović Gymnasium. The event is once again organised by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), with support from the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), and as part of the European Week of Sport.
The project aims to promote and popularise Volleyball among children in Montenegro. The most attended such youth event has once again demonstrated the great popularity of the sport in the Balkan country. This season, around 700 boys and girls aged nine to 13, representing as many as 65 teams from 15 Montenegrin clubs, are taking part in the Mini Volleyball league.
In addition to competition, the event also promotes learning more about Volleyball, its key values, and helps youngsters socialise with their peers. This year as well, the OSCG has provided volleyballs for all participating clubs.
Ksenija Božović, OSCG Director of Women’s National Teams, handed out balls to the teams representing Akademija, Mediteran, Lovćen, Mrkojevići, Iskra, and Net.
Milan Jančić, Director General of the Directorate for Sports Infrastructure at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, presented balls to the representatives of Morača, Ivangrad 2011, Libero, Asa, and Top Volley.
Ivan Ječmenica, OSCG Director of Men’s National Teams, delivered balls to members of Budućnost, Ulcinj, Jedinstvo, and Barban.
