Future looking bright for Volleyball in Montenegro through CEV School Project

by Press 03/10/2023
written by Press

In September, the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) resumed their work on the Free Volleyball School and EKO Mini Volleyball League programs – which they run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

The OSCG expect the participation of 12 schools from eight municipalities in the north of Montenegro, as well as the involvement of 12 teachers who will work with young boys in the delivery of the Free Volleyball School. The OSCG has planned educational seminars as well. As an indicator of the work that has been accomplished this far, one team featuring the most promising boys will participate in an official youth competition organised by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro. Additionally, five teachers from the Free Volleyball School project participated in the CEV Coaches Convention 2023 held this past month in Bulgaria.

The seventh season of the EKO Mini Volleyball league will start on October 22, 2023. Nineteen clubs will participate in categories for girls born in 2011/2012, girls born in 2013 and younger, and boys born in 2011 and younger. The OSCG count with over 800 participants, thus continuing the tradition of making this the largest competition for children across all sports organised in the Balkan country.

School Project activities to further expand in Albania following school year start

by Press 03/10/2023
written by Press

CEV School Project activities have resumed in Albania, with a focus on planning what is due to follow throughout the school year and a session of the Beselidhja team organised in the city of Lezhë. The Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) will again run the project in close cooperation with their National Olympic Committee (NOC) in conjunction with the so-called ‘Ekipet Sportive’ program.

Last year, the project focused primarily on secondary and high-school children and involved a large number of kids and teachers in most cities across Albania, with the teachers joining a course specifically designed for such target group by the FSHV and NOC.

Since the start of the school year, the Albanian Volleyball Federation and the National Olympic Committee have worked on establishing school teams across the Balkan country. Coaches are appointed to follow a team of young boys and girls and will have to follow a practice plan delivered by the Albanian Volleyball Federation, which they are due to implement throughout the school year. The school teams will start practicing in early October and they will do so three times a week, with each session lasting for some 90 minutes. At the end of the school year, all teams will partake in a nationwide competition.

Next to this, the Albanian Volleyball Federation and the NOC have included in the project elementary school age children (thus helping the establishment of U-8 and U-10 teams), which will take part in kids’ festivals due to take place several times throughout the year.

The organisers are confident that the number of kids and teachers involved in the CEV School Project will exceed the already encouraging figures from last year!

Resumption of School Project activities sparks joy and enthusiasm in North Macedonia

by Press 03/10/2023
written by Press

Activities run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ have resumed in North Macedonia with a lot of enthusiasm and happiness visible on the children’s faces.

This past September 22, the very first volleyball class of this school year was run at the primary school Kiril and Metodij in Zletovo, namely at the Ilinden 1903 sports hall, with participation of more than 20 children aged 9-11. They all performed exercises designed to make sure they would learn how to pass the ball over a net and worked on the development of basic motor skills as well.

Two days later, at the Sofia Petrovska sports hall in Probishtip, a meeting was held with more than 30 children from the Brača Miladinovci primary school, who all looked incredibly excited for the start of the new school year and especially of the volleyball classes.

Both these events were held in cooperation with the volleyball club Vesna Probishtip, which for years has been regarded as a leading force in domestic youth competitions.

Later in the month of September, the Park sports hall in Strumica welcomed the first volleyball class of the school year as well, with the participation of more than 40 children, who had the opportunity to make friends while playing Volleyball and having their own share of fun. The children ranged in age from seven to nine years old and their engagement shows how much they enjoy learning more about the volleyball game. This activity was supported by the Nakovski volleyball club.

“I hope that this school year will continue with the same enthusiasm on the part of the clubs and primary schools and for us it will be a great way to nurture new and young volleyball talents,” said Project Manager Sanja Nikcevic.
